Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA) is blocking 20 State Department nominations so that he, too, can get in on the Hillary Clinton email nothingburger.
The chairman of the Judiciary Committee in a statement included in Wednesday's Congressional Record said that he would object to roughly 20 foreign officer nominations.

"I will object because, in addition to the multiple inquiries I have made that are still unanswered, I sent another letter to the State Department today and the Department has failed to confirm receipt, yet again," Grassley said. "In addition, my staff placed multiple phone calls to Department personnel to inquire as to the status of the most recent letter. Department personnel have failed even to return phone calls."

Well, boo-fucking-hoo that you aren't the State Department's number one priority, Senator. Grassley has written both to Secretary Kerry and to FBI Director James Comey with a variety of demands. He wants Clinton's thumb drive that holds copies of her emails. He wants an investigation into her aide Huma Abedin. He wants "all records relating to the instructions the State Department provided to Mr. [David] Kendall regarding his obligation to secure the thumb drive and all classified emails in his possession." He wants attention, and he's going to hold his breath—and 20 foreign service posts as well as an assistant secretary at State—hostage until he gets it.

It's a wonder the State Department could get the hard work of a solid Iran nuclear deal done, what with trying to answer all the bogus demands of Republican "investigators" and making sure they're covering all the vacancies Senate Republicans have created.
